Your guests will think you hired a caterer when you serve these deceptively simple shrimp bites that pair a deliciously creamy filling with chopped shrimp and crisped phyllo shells.

My favorite appetizers to serve at parties are the ones where people take one bite and say, “Wait … you made these?” This recipe for shrimp bites never fails to get that reaction. The creamy filling paired with chopped shrimp and a crisp, buttery crust creates a deliciously rich and impressive fancy appetizer. But just because the shrimp bites taste as if they came out of a professional kitchen doesn’t mean they’re difficult or time-consuming. These tasty bites are simple to make and come together in under 30 minutes.

How can I dress up shrimp bites?

These shrimp bites are delicious as they are, but if you are looking to make them your own, try adding a dollop of fresh guacamole or diced avocado when they come out of the oven. The creamy, cool texture and mildly sweet, buttery flavor are the perfect pairing.

Can I make these shrimp bites spicy?

Top each shrimp bite with a thin slice of jalapeño or Serrano chile pepper to add a bit of heat and a pop of color.

What else can I make with phyllo tart shells?

Have extra frozen phyllo tart shells? They work with both sweet and savory fillings, from these shrimp bites to recipes like our sweet potato tartlets, lemon curd tartlets and baklava tartlets.
