Whether you follow American football or soccer, I think we can all agree that “football” is a huge deal around the world. And two of its biggest stars, Tom Brady and David Beckham, have recently entered the gummy snack market.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “What?” And trust me, I asked myself that question too. In fact, I haven’t stopped thinking about that question. And like any good journalist, if I can’t shake an idea, I will turn it into a story. So join me on this journey as I taste and rank all of the brand-new gummy snacks offered by these athletes.

What are Tom Brady’s GOAT Gummies?

Tom Brady is pretty famous for having a very strict diet regimen. His first foray into the gummy snack market is, of course, a vegan option. GOAT Gummies come in three flavors: Sweet Rush, Tropic Fusion and Sour Burst. They come in a 4-ounce package and retail for $4.99.

My initial reaction was that they looked like the Gatorade electrolyte gummies that runners use to stay hydrated during marathons. The packaging made me feel like I should only eat two, sort of like gummy vitamins. They’re shaped like little lopsided stars, which I’m not sure was intentional. They could have just gotten a little jostled and melted in transit.

What are David Beckham’s BEEUP Snacks?

David Beckham is pretty famous for being married to my favorite Spice Girl. And also the soccer stuff. His gummy snack is actually marketed toward kids, and their hook is that they use honey as a sweetener—hence the BEE in BEEUP. These snacks are sold in boxes that contain 10 individually-wrapped pouches like fruit snacks. The three flavors are Very Berry, Tropical Mix and Sour Watermelon (sounds familiar, no?)

My first impression was that it seemed like a fun kid snack. The packaging is super bright and colorful, and the illustrations and font on the pouches gave me a little ’90s nostalgia vibe. These gummies are much smaller than the GOAT Gummies, and they are all noticeably sticky. I think that must be due to the honey.

Ranking Tom Brady and David Beckham’s Gummy Snacks

6. GOAT Gummies Sour Burst

First thought: These are so weird. They have that typical sour sugar dusting that a lot of sour candies have, but the taste is so strange. It doesn’t have much flavor, and then immediately it has a very weird and acidic aftertaste. It was hard to eat more than one of these.

Ranking: 0/5

5. BEEUP Very Berry

The only flavor that I got from these was cough syrup. I thought if I kept eating them, it would feel more like candy and less like medicine, but, sadly, that was not the case. I only ate one package of these.

Ranking: 0.5/5

4. GOAT Gummies Sweet Rush

These tasted good, which was a nice change of pace after the Sour Burst flavor. The combination of fruit flavors that are purportedly in this bag are pear, mango, passion fruit and cherry, and I definitely think the sweetness of those flavors came through. These were tasty, but not necessarily something I would seek out again.

Ranking: 3/5

3. BEEUP Tropical Mix

I was so thankful that these tasted like fruit and not cough medicine! The flavor profile was spot on and very tropical. The only reason why these are not in second place is because I had to take points off for just how sticky they are! I had to wash my hands after eating them, which is not very on-the-go friendly—especially for kids.

Ranking: 3.5/5

2. GOAT Gummies Tropic Fusion

These are absolutely delicious! The best flavor combination that GOAT Gummies had to offer. If you or someone you know is a Tom Brady super fan, I would order the Tropic Fusion flavor to try. I am not ashamed to admit that I ate this entire bag in one sitting while watching Love Island.

Ranking: 4.5/5

1. BEEUP Sour Watermelon

The fact that the sour flavor varieties are bookending this list is really funny to me. The BEEUP Sour Watermelon gummies were a complete and utter delight. I would place them on par with any sour candy. And what’s more, the sour sugar coating on the outside got rid of my number one complaint about the BEEUP gummies, the stickiness! Everything came together for a really superior gummy snack. I wouldn’t mind having this around the house for when that gummy candy craving hits.

Ranking: 5/5

Conclusion

At the end of the day, David Beckham narrowly edged out Tom Brady as having the better gummy snacks. It was a pretty hard call, though.

I felt like throwing a flag on the play for a personal foul after eating the sour GOAT Gummies, but luckily Tom was able to run it back for a touchdown with the Tropic Fusion variety. David Beckham earned himself a yellow card for that berry flavored snack, but ended up winning the game with the Sour Watermelon BEEUP.
