If you’re celebrating the end of summer with a corn dog, you might want to double-check the label. There’s a corn dog recall in effect for specific Hillshire Brands products. Here’s everything we know so far.

What caused the recall?

Hillshire Brands recalled approximately 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products on Saturday, Sept. 29, after discovering possible contamination with pieces of wood. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall following multiple consumer complaints. Five people reported injuries after eating the affected products.

The recalled items include corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products that Hillshire produced between March 17, 2025, and Sept. 26, 2025, at its facility in Haltom City, Texas. The contamination occurred during manufacturing, when pieces of wood became embedded in the batter.

What stores sold the recalled corn dogs?

The FSIS announcement does not list specific grocery stores. However, because Hillshire distributed the products widely, consumers who regularly purchase frozen corn dog or sausage-on-a-stick items should check their freezers.

In addition to retail stores across the country, Hillshire also shipped the recalled items to select school districts and Department of Defense food service locations.
